I received this huge box of chocolate for my birthday. I laughed when I saw it because I was starting a diet and thought, I won’t eat that…. I’ll give it to someone or leave it out for guests.
Less than a week later I was through the first layer.
Today, I finished the box.
I feel like Joey from friends, “I’m not even sorry”.

Lady below us, is moving out today and apparently angry about it. She’s been blowing her speakers out all morning with some serious angry, violent-esque rap. With a migraine and studying to do… and since I come from the land of passive aggressivo, I have opened my windows and blared my Sarah McLaughan to soothe all involved. Don’t make me play her sad puppy song.

I love this guy more than anything

I love this guy more than anything

Lonely, oh so lonely

(Years and years ago) when I was single, Akon…. and the chipmunks, had a song of Lonely. I used to jokingly play it while editing photos when my sister and her boyfriend were lounging in front of our fireplace.

I got married soon thereafter to this amazing guy and we haven’t spent a day or night apart since our wedding day almost 4 years ago, but this week he is out of town. An entire week. It feels like a long time to us.

I was whining to myself about this when I thought about how my husband is a Military Veteran and I thought about all of the husbands and wives that are apart for such long periods of time during these wars. The ones who listen to speeches of missions being accomplished while their husbands are still in danger, overseas, and in training. Simply being apart from their families for extended periods of time with no end in sight.

I miss my husband terribly after just one day, while I know that there are women who crave to hear their husbands voice and just to see him again and haven’t seen their spouses in weeks, months, or years. To those of you who are connected to the soldiers fighting for our country, I thank you and I thank your spouse.

So, I had plans today, but then lunch happened.

I have these things that I do in order to be more productive. I like my apartment to be clean, clothes put away, bed made and at least 2 cups of coffee and a meal in my stomach. Then, and only then can I be at my highest functioning level.

If these things aren’t done, I end up sitting down on the couch with a pot of tea and surfing theChive and theBerry for hours on end. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I made this Pasta Salad Primavera that smelled like lemon and cilantro heaven. I ate my lunch portion of the salad and settled into the couch to figure out what my next step would be when an episode of Grey’s Anatomy came on and I watched it. That is where my day ended.

I blame Grey’s Anatomy for having an intriguing story line and I blame Netflix, for giving me the ability to see what happens in the next episode, and the one after that, and after that one too.

We’ll chalk it up that today was a complete waste of time, except that the salad was delicious.

Drink, Day 18

Would Lois Lane catch it?

So I used to work at a newspaper. I was so excited when I got the job and I had this grand idea that I could be a pseudo Lois Lane by working at this newspaper but obviously in a more administrative manner. That didn’t happen.

What did happen was wild, at least in the admin world. I had crazy work days and carried home stories to my hot husband that always made him ask me why I kept working there.

One of the more common things that went on at that newspaper was the office cold. You never knew who was going to catch it after the first victim went down with it. Like a game of dodgeball but invisible, I would walk the long hallways while holding my breath, hoping and praying not to be struck down with the virus. It seemed to be without fail that I was always the third or fourth person to catch it and the crappy thing about being third or fourth to catch a cold is that all the sympathy has been used up and you feel guilty for taking sick days.

It was there, at the newspaper, that a girl in the classified department showed me how to cope with a cold at work and that is where the daily drink of today comes in - Theraflu.

Drink, Day 17

Pucker-face.

So I was hanging out in an office with my sister last week, she had the sniffles but certainly didn’t have that “I’m-so-sick-I-should-be-in-bed-with-nyquil” look. Looks are deceiving though, she was sick and now I am sick.

The best remedy in my book for sore throats has always been fresh, hot lemon tea.  I have lemons. I have boiling water. I will have hot lemon tea. Time for my happy dance. :)

I believe that being sick is only awesome for a few reasons and it is really only when you can embrace being sick. 1. Daytime television. 2. Naps. 3. Your hot husband takes sweet care of you.

Happy sigh. :)

Drink, Day 16

Foggy windows

I love rainy days. Today is fantastic rainy day, it is cold outside and warm inside. My windows are fogged up and have rain drops running down them. I came home from running errands and brewed a pot of Mint Black Tea from Teavana and it smells ridiculously good.

It’s on days like this that I am really inspired to be productive, creative and that I am meant to achieve something. So I sat down with soft music on, with my cup of tea that has steam floating up in waves and pondered what I would like to be successful with today.

Today, I will scrub the kitchen and the bathroom. Dust bunnies beware, your time is up.

Afterwards, I’ll celebrate my victory over dust and grime with a good book and another cup of tea.

Drink, Day 16 :)
